English

I’m lazy, I know

One english post in a year. It could be better, yes. I can promise to write more often but who knows… Anyway, so much to tell about this last year. I have had no time to practice my english in the last months, after finishing the slang course in december. Just on travelling. One month ago I went to the Netherlands where I ran a marathon, a bit slower than expected but finished. 2h46. There I had the chance to practice my spoken english and even trying to learn how to ask a beer in dutch. Definetely, better to try in english. As I have written before in the blog it was really dificult to scape from Holland after the cancellation of the flight due to the ash cloud created by the Icelandic vulcano.

I’m still working in the construction of a F1 circuit after a year and we expect to finish in june, so that means to be fired. in one month or so. Then I will travel to Thailand (flight tickets purchased) if the current situation get calmer there. We hope to visit other countries like Vietnam, Laos or Indonesia.

More news. I am now living in Txantrea with two friends feeling the freedom out of the parental house. The flat is close from the downtown and surrounded by green areas, so perfect location. Back in Iruñea, my city I feel much better. No time lost in transport for going back home. Almost everybody who’s important for me is near now. BUT… staying a long time in the same place make me feel anxious. I need to travel and maybe working abroad for a while. We’ll see.

That’s all, folks!

New plans

4/1/2009

The last time I collected enough energy to write here, one year ago more or less, I had several plans. The most important was improving my English in Edinburgh… Finally, my plan was cancelled, but instead of that I decided to take part in a workcamp in the Reykjanes Peninsula, Iceland. I was there for two weeks plus one more travelling around the southern coast and covering one of the most famous trekkings between glaciers, volcanoes and hot springs.

Now I have just arrived home from London, where I have enjoyed three days of party and tourism for celebrating the New Year. Now I’m working so I’m limited in holidays but, anyways, I’m planning a great travel for this year. My plan is looking for a new job in my home town, so I couldn’t have enough time for a GREAT trip. But if I finally don’t get the job I want, from now till summer, I will start thinking to do one of the most amazing hiking trails in the world: The roundtrip to Annapurna, in Nepal, with a friend of mine.

And after that, who knows, maybe looking for a job in Australia or New Zealand, or Japan. All of them sounds like a dream in my mind, but now is the time. Maybe in the future I will have a long-term job, or a house, or even a family ;P (or all of them).

That’s the probable future. But I don’t have these roots now. It’s time to be crazy. Anybody wants to join me, in Nepal, New Zealand or wherever? There are some months before to think about it. And so many things can change in this time.

Happy New Year!!!

I’m back!

19/4/2008

Is time to write something more in english after some months. Actually, I haven’t spoken english at all in the last months because I gave up going to the classes and my friends here are just galician-spanish-basque spokers. And this is not like riding a bycicle. If you don’t practice you forget it. And yes, I know, I´m a bit lazzy. But I have a plan.

THE PLAN:

This summer, my last long funny summer before starting working, I`m thinking to go to Edinburgh, Scotland, for a month. I don’t know yet what I’m doing there, maybe working, maybe studying english with an academic grant. Then I will be ready in september to pass the english exam, I hope. But the most difficult is don´t come across Spanish people or someone else who doesn’t speak english but spanish. And in Edinburgh I think there are a lot of this kind.

Last year I went to Scotland for cycling and I really loved it. Nice people, amazing landscapes, everything is green. But… is ALWAYS raining! Just as in Santiago. Despite of that, I’m looking forward to the summer and this month with the Scottishs. Maybe I’ll rent a bike for little trips…

Welcome then!

18/10/7

I have started with my English classes in the language school. Yesterday I went to the first class, the first one for me, the third for the rest ;P And I feel quite retarded. Last year I passed the 4th level I don’t know how, and fifth is one step more, maybe too high. The place of the classes is in the most distant point in Santiago from my home and the south campus. And the classes start at 8 o’clock, the same hour I finish my lessons in the university. So arriving on time becomes an odyssey.

The biggest difference between 4th and 5th is that your classmates talk to you in English! I know, maybe is not strange but quite hard. Overalls, when they speak much better than you but the teacher is correcting them again and again. And you think, if I open the mouth the tragedy will came…

In fact, this wasn’t the first day. The official first day I tried to arrive on time but I didn’t know the buses and I arrived late. The teacher asked me “What’s your name?” Ion. And she said “Hello Ion, the class is finished” It was the presentation day and the class was just 20 minutes. My face in this moment must be priceless…

At least, I can practice on my own, as I am doing, with nobody correcting me. Then I can lie myself and say: “You’re English is not so bad, the most important is taking part…” ;)

The Beginning.

In this page I’m trying to write some of the posts in english. Maybe there are some english spoken visitors here and they used to see the pictures but without understanding anything of what I write. Maybe it’s better that way ;P

Anyways, I will try to make an effort for not forgetting my degradated english and translating some posts, or even writting something different in this page, who knows. Not very often though.
